I may have simply experienced bad luck but this was a complete wast of $20. In appliance mode, the plug would simply remain on all of the time. Maybe I just got a bad unit but the sensor plug I ordered was terrible. When in light mode, the "motion sensor" would either would randomly set it itself off while simultaneously refusing to respond to actual motion.
Before, it was too far from me to see my smaller arm movements, but moving to closer solved it.If you plan to use it attached to a reading light, forget it. I have this connected to two halogen lights in my apartment and I like not having to worry about wasting energy when I leave a light on in one room but end up spending too much time in another.It has some issues, though. Just take off your jacket and, ta-dah, light.This is not appropriate for every situation, but if you find you could benefit from it, you'll be glad you bought it. You'll stay motionless longer than the sensor will keep the light lit.When the weather turns cold and you come in from outside, there's a good chance the sensor won't see you. I quickly learned that this is a motion detector and not a "presence" detector, so if you need your light to stay on, the plug must be able to see your constant movements. Sitting at the computer, the light would turn off, so I had to move the plug under my desk in order for the sensor to see my feet move.
I think that once I get it fixed, which at this point I'm hoping is possible, it will be a great item, lighting my way through the house without having to stop and turn lights on and off, but so far, no luck. It was sent with a replacement sensor fuse, but the way to replace it requires am eyeglass frame sized screwdriver and seems like it'll be a pain to do. I'm afraid that I won't be much help as yet. The item arrived, but doesn't work.
Many great uses for this light control, I use it in the bathroom with a small lamp to turn on for late night trips when you do not want to turn on the bright lights.
Sweet. I love it, now my hot water circulator only runs when I enter the room and turn on the lights.
